Day 1

So here we go, me and my wife decided to spend a weekend in Acadia. Acadia has a lot of adventurous stuff like Hiking, Kayaking and other adrenaline-packed activities. But this time we were really not up for an adrenaline rush, instead it was all about unwinding us and let our stress to fade away and recharge our batteries . 

Are you looking for some thing like that? Want a beach, a spa, some relaxing hiking trails and a few unexpected sights to see? If the answer is Yes, Keep reading.

Reaching the national park is no difficult. Its as simple as taking the US Route 1 all the way till you reach ME Route 3 and after a 30 minutes ride you should look for the signs to Acadia Park Loop Road.

Pit-stop: Sand Beach

If you are not a Mainer or if you are new to Maine, down from the south or west, keep this in mind. Waters are not as warm as it seems to be.  Even during the peak summers when its 90+ F , water temperature is around  45 to 50 F, so be prepared.

This is a pretty cool cove shaded by the rocky hill on one side and open to the harness of the Sun on the other.

Pit-stop: Thunder hole

Like the name says, its a small pit stop to view one of the natures yet another mystery.  A small natural cave showers a thunder like effect when the water splashes back from the hole.

Pit-stop: Otter cliff
There is a small trail towards the otter cliff from the parking, Its a pretty sharp cliff and you could see the mountain line that surrounds the national park.

Pit-stop: Jordon pond 

You should be all tired by now, this pond has a clear water, not still though. So considering the serenity, swimming is not allowed.  If you wish to jump into the waters again, the alternatives I suggest are Eagle Lake and Bubble Pond.

Dont miss the food in Jordan Pond House Restaurant. You dont have a lot of options.


Pit-stop: Cadillac mountains

Reserve the evening to see the glorious sun set at Cadillac mountains. During the month of July 7 Pm was pretty much bright enough to start towards the trail. The summit is very close, its hardly .5 miles from the parking.

The view is absolutely mesmerizing, I just cant explain it with words. Did I tell you its Magnificent, Magical & Memorable? I would love to stay there longer staring at the ranges, mountains, peaks and valleys ,  "but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep..." :)

Day 2

We wanted to keep the day light and simple, after-all we drove just to relax and get a stress relief. So the day started with a warm swim in our resort, snacked a quick sandwich breakfast and moved to a favorite sport - Kayaking.

Paddling Info

Paddle Difficulty - Moderate

Activities - Canoe-Kayak-Motor Boat-Swimming.

Duration - 3 hours

You don't have to carry your kayak all the way down here. There are rentals just across the long pond entrance. The pond doesn't have strong current except for the wind. So watch out for the wind. A few pedals take you to a beautiful view of the Acadia mountains. An ideal place to spend the evening.

Pit-stop: Bar Harbor town walk

I recommend this personally, or else you will miss the beautiful part of the town. just go for a walk. Parking is so tight and its busy during the summers. 

Finally, don't forget to taste the lobsters in the local eat-outs.
