Trekking sometimes becomes a ONCE IN LIFE TIME EXPERIENCE for many of us. But it becomes horrible, sometimes even worst if you don't consider your packing. If you follow some basic techniques your travel will be a rustle free and memorable one.
Track your trails
· Most recommended method is to trek along streams inside valleys in mountain ranges. In such treks you won’t need to worry about water, valley would be less dense, climate would be tropical and the slopes would be gradual
· Navigation devices such as Topographic maps, GPS, compass are needed if it’s going to be a fresh new trail. Don’t depend on 3G network in your mobile to track.
Camping
- · Identify suitable campsite which is at least little flat ground level and with water source nearby
- · Tarpaulin sheets, ropes
- · Sleeping mat & Sleeping Bag
- · Mats are comfortable to be warm on forest ground, they also can help non-swimmers.
- · Sleeping Bags come handy and they are more compact than blankets. They come in differ. Remember sleeping mats won’t help when it’s damn chill
Amenities
- · 2 PET bottles to fill water, bowl, spoon
- · Swiss knife
- · LED torch
- · Extra set of clothes, sandals
- · Sunscreen, cap or towel
- · Plastic bags Rain falls are frequent in tropical areas.
- · Aluminium pots cook faster
- · Lesser the weight better is your trek. Choose a medium size backpack.
Good shoes
· Carry comfortable outdoor shoes. Avoid new and worn out shoes. You can go for breathable shoes, but be aware, if there are too many pores, water & leaches can crawl through. Try some weather proof shoes.
Clothing
- · Wear dull colour dress.Bright colour dress may distract animals.
- · Don’t use any kind of perfume or deo
- · Don’t wear jean as it will be difficult for walking
- · Dress modestly – leave your attitude at home enjoy your trekking with others.
Cooking & campfire
- Collect three rocks for cooking place. Choose bigger rocks for better heat generation, with flat bottom.
- Collect bigger trunks for camp fire to last longer.
Safety
- · Beware of Water bodies. They are Silent killers.
- · Loose rocks while climbing
- · Wildlife – Leaches, Snakes, scorpions, elephants, bees
- · Always travel in a group. Maintain eye sight with person in front/back. Identify lead, sweeper and middle man in that group.
