Leave your anxieties on the shores and board the ferry for your island getaway!
Mackinac Island – is one of the top 20 islands in the world and one of the best in united states. One of the last motor-free destinations in the U.S. Yes you heard that right, no automobiles are allowed in the island. Stroll the beaches and relax to the rhythm of waves rolling in. Watch and feel the breezes blowing through the dense woods.. Taste the beautifully prepared local fare, served up with a side of lakeshore views. Hike, bike, kayak, swim, shop, dine or do absolutely nothing at all. Sit, collect your thoughts, unwind, and listen to the timeless sounds of restless waves gently lapping on shore.
It’s all here for you on the beautiful Mackinac island.
Day 1
Before I begin, If you wish to take the roads, plan to arrive the night before. This was an hectic 9 hours drive for us from Minneapolis and we had to drive all night.
Pit-stop: Mackinac island The whole Island has dozens of Pit stops, so am just going to brag those with bold and italics
There are multiple ferry services we choose the Star Line Cruiseand the one closer to St. Ignace. For people who don’t have the luxury to stay in the Island will find it easy to get cheaper hotels here. I will recommend to take the night down in the Island instead, if you have that budget. We found a pretty decent here around. You don’t have to worry about parking, its free all day in Star Line. Ferry takes ur bi cycle if you have one. Hold on your breadth, The 30 minutes sail will take you to a new world.
May was so beautiful there, free from the loud horns, city buzz and roaring automobile. Instead you will see a calm laid back town with horse carriages, bi cycles flying around, photographers looking through their third eye
We took the Carriage tour and enjoy a leisurely visit through the Surrey Hills Museum, gift shops, Arch Rock and the historic Fort Mackinac Avenue of Flag. We spent a lot of time in high altitudes of Fort Mackinac as the view from there is breathtaking. We peddled approx 20 miles around the Island on Day 1.
Something we missed and don’t want you to miss is the night life. We regret missing moonlit carriage ride. Please do share you night life experience with us if you have any.
Day 2
Pit-stop: Bridge View Park, Straits State Park, St. Ignace City Tour
Have you seen the photographs of the beautiful Mackinac bridge? But where did they snap it from? I am reveling a secret here, which many might not know about. There is a small park called the Bridge View Park and the view of the bridge is amazing.
We also checked out the Straits State Park, there are couple of trails, we hiked a bit. to give us an idea on where we will camp during the next visit.
Pit-stop: Mackinac island
We did absolutely nothing but enjoyed the evening enjoying with treaty nature for your eyes and alcohol for our thirst. Oh I forgot about the Butterfly garden. Too many butterflies to resist, and one became my friend.
